Iloilo City – Newly-licensed Ilonggo Real Estate Brokers take their oath at a solemn ceremony held at Hotel del Rio last June 4, 2013. The oath was administered by Professional Board of Real Estate Service (PRB-RES) Chairman Dr. Eduardo Ong and was witnessed by the officers of Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Region 6 headed by Director Lily Ann Baldago, and the officers of Iloilo City Realtors Board Inc. (ICRB).
The licensure examination for Real Estate Brokers was held last March 17, 2013 in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao and Iloilo. The passing rate of Ilonggo test takers is 73% well ahead of the national passing rate of 64.94%.
Top notchers from Iloilo include Atty. Leo Theodore Ganzon (3rd Place- 84.50%) and Iloilo travel guide publisher Moses “Mark” Segador (8th Place – 83.25%).
“Since the creation of the PRB-RES in 2010, the ranks of real estate service professionals have swelled to more than 22,000. Currently, our profession is the fastest growing under the wings of the PRC”, remarks Board Chairman Ong.
Aside from their official oath taking as professionals, the new Real Estate Brokers were also inducted as members of the Iloilo City Realtors Board by its president, Atty. Ian Thomas Besana.
Real Estate Service Act (RA 9646)
The Real Estate Service Act (or the RESA Law) by virtue of Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9646 which took effect in 2009 aims to professionalize the real estate service practice in the country. Some of the law’s important provisions include the creation of Professional Board of Real Estate Service (PRB-RES) and the formation of an accredited and integrated professional organization (now called the Philippine Institute of Real Estate Service Practitioners, Inc. or PhilRES).
Under the law, PRB-RES, a professional board under the supervision of PRC, shall have the overall authority to supervise, administer and regulate of the real estate service practice in the Philippines.
Iloilo City Realtors Board, Inc.
The Iloilo City Realtors Board, Inc. (ICRB) was founded in 1971 by a small of group of real estate brokers and has grown to become the leading and largest organization of licensed real estate brokers in Panay, if not in Western Visayas.
